1. Introduction
MeterMentor LLC ("MeterMentor," "we," "us," or "our") provides an electricity plan analysis tool for Texas consumers. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Usage file uploads: CSV/XML files exported from SmartMeterTexas.com, which may include interval usage data and meter identifiers.
- Analysis inputs: zip code, current provider, current rate, early termination fee, and months remaining on contract.
- Email address (optional): if you opt in to receive an analysis or a contract reminder.
- Contract reminders: contract end date, optional provider name, reminder consent and confirmation details, and delivery or unsubscribe history needed to provide the reminder you request.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical logs: IP address, browser/device metadata, request timing, and error logs used for security and reliability.
- Product analytics: pseudonymous events like upload success/failure, analysis completion, verdict type, reminder-flow steps, and plan-link click events. These events avoid direct contact details but may use a random or hashed identifier and are not guaranteed to be anonymous.
3. How We Use Information
- To process your uploaded usage data and generate recommendations.
- To confirm and send a contract-date reminder you explicitly request.
- To improve model quality, product UX, and service reliability.
- To detect abuse and enforce rate limits and security protections.
- To contact you only if you opt in with your email address.
4. Data Retention
- Usage files are processed for analysis and are not retained longer than needed for processing and logging workflows.
- Unconfirmed Renewal Watch requests expire after 24 hours and are deleted seven days after expiration. Active Renewal Watch records are retained until 180 days after the contract end date you provide. Worker-run records are retained for 90 days.
- If you unsubscribe, we suppress future reminder mail and retain the minimum suppression and audit evidence for up to two years to honor that choice, prevent an accidental resend, meet legal obligations, and resolve delivery issues.
- Other optional email-capture records are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to legal obligations.
- Security and application logs are retained for operational and audit needs.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with infrastructure and operational service providers (for example, hosting, logging, error tracking, analytics, and email delivery). Reminder and confirmation emails are delivered by our email provider, Resend, which receives the email address and message content needed to send them. We also disclose information when legally required.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- You can choose not to provide optional email information.
- A Renewal Watch is not active until you use the confirmation choice in its email. If you did not request it, you can ignore that message.
- Every reminder provides a direct unsubscribe choice. Unsubscribing suppresses any future reminder associated with that watch.
- You can request deletion of email-capture records tied to your address.
- You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
7. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards, including transport encryption and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
This service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest version.
